Calvert Artists' Guild Spring Art Show

You are cordially invited to the Calvert Artists' Guild Spring Art Show, which is taking place today and tomorrow from 10am-5pm at the Southern Maryland Sailing Association in Solomons, MD. Admission and parking are free. It looks to be a comfortable weekend temperature-wise, with only the slightest chance of rain, so come on down to the island and make a day of it. There are shops and galleries and a boardwalk along the Patuxent River. Stay for lunch and/or dinner, and I will point you in the right direction. Love good seafood, head for Stoney's Kingfishers. Enjoy great beer, head for The Ruddy Duck Brewery. More of a wine or dessert person, then The CD Cafe. And if you are interested in something both excellent and unique, give Lotus Kitchen a try.

Sorry, I got sidetracked thinking about food--isn't that always the way? So my paintings are hanging on two panels in the back room of the Sailing Association. I arrived about 45 minutes into the setup time, and at that point the entire front room was already full of artwork and half of the back room with  artists buzzing all around. There are about 20 local artists participating in the multi-media show with paintings in acrylic, oil, and watercolor, as well as photography, collage, drawings, scratchboard, stained glass, art quilts (OMG, the art quilts!), fused and slumped glass, sculpture, jewelry, and some fine art reproductions and greeting cards. Such a lovely variety of work by Southern Maryland artists!

I am exhibiting these 6 paintings, which I selected because they are all inspired by the same place: my favorite wheat field. (Doesn't everyone have a favorite wheat field?) I hope you get a chance to see the show!
