August 2019 Newsletter

Another dozen reasons to get to the shore before the summer’s over. I have recent work at Bishop's Stock, and Snow Hill, Maryland, is a frankly awesome place to visit! Read on…

Off to Lacawac

On Sunday I will begin my week-long Artists Residency at Lacawac Sanctuary & Biological Field Station in Lake Ariel, PA. It’s in the Pocono Mountains, near Scranton. If you’re in the neighborhood, please stop by for a visit and see what I’ve been working on. I will be posting photos at Barb Mowery Art on both Instagram and Facebook.

Bishop’s Stock
Meanwhile, I’d like to show you the recent paintings I have at Bishop’s Stock Fine Art, Craft & Wine in Snow Hill, MD. Bishop’s Stock is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11am – 5pm and Sundays by appointment. And if you have the good fortune of visiting on the first Friday of the month--like this Friday--the gallery is open until 8pm for a reception and wine tasting.

If you are headed to the Mid-Atlantic beaches, escape the crowds with a day trip to Snow Hill! Enjoy the natural beauty of Delmarva by canoe or kayak with a relaxing paddle from Porter’s Crossing back into town (Pocomoke River Canoe Company). Take in some local history at the Furnace Town Living Heritage Village and the Julia A. Purnell Museum.  And while you’re at it, feed yourself. Snow Hill is home to the Daily Brew Coffee House, Blue Dog Café, and Olde Town Candy Company (ice cream!!!).
