Here are the past 4 days together for comparison. Sorry, I'm usually more of a writer with plenty to say about process and what I am learning and all that jazz. But the baby has been working on either a canine or a molar, and the nights have been pretty short for me. I am just excited to be keeping up with the daily painting challenge. So if I grunt at you in the grocery line, you will know it's just all teething all the time at my house and nothing personal. Have a nice weekend!
Barb, I'm enjoying seeing your paintings--I like the concept of the same scene painted in different color schemes. I'm trying to do abstract landscapes, a new style that I'm struggling with. Thanks for the inspiration.
I saw you sunset and trees yesterday, and it didn't look like you were struggling, Paula. :) Here are a couple practices that help me keep the paintings loose and more abstracted. 1) Use a larger brush than you think you need/want to block in your shapes. Don't go for smaller brishes until the end. 2) Hold your brush 6-8 inches back from the bristles. And 3) stand up when you paint if you are able to. When I remember to do these 3 things, my paintings have more movement and spontaneity. Happy painting!
Barb, Thanks for sharing those tips. I don't paint as often as I'd like, but when I do paint... I need to loosen up. I'll try to think of those things next time! I LOVE your style! :)
Barb: A TEETHING BABY! I'm way impressed that you are participating so wholeheartedly and with such finesse in the 30-in-30. In Hide and Seek, the light both pours out towards me and invites me to walk towards it, through the trees to see what I'll find there.
Can't imagine coping with a teething baby and The Challenge - yet still be able to produce lovely paintings such as this one.......!
ReplyDeleteI'm lucky, I guess, because she's happy, just waking up at night a lot. Like every 2 hours, newborn style. And now I'm taking a nap! ;)
